Hirono Thermal Power Station
Hirono Thermal Power Station is a thermal power plant located in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. It is the seventh largest thermal power plant in its country. It lies directly on the Pacific coast. The beginning of its operation dates back to 1980.
The original plan was to run on a mixture of natural gas and oil, but production from the Iwaki-Oki gas field was discontinued in 2007. Therefore, it was necessary to switch only to oil combustion.
In Units 5, 6 and 7, coal is used as fuel.
