The BMW 3 is a classic passenger car with the parameters of a compact executive car (D-segment), which has appeared in the offer of the traditional German manufacturer since 1975.

Depending on the generation, it is available in sedan body styles, coupés, convertibles, station wagons and 5-door hatchback (“Gran Turismo”). Performance versions with the BMW M3 designation are also available.

The BMW 3 of the fourth generation was produced from 1998 to 2005 and was sold with a total of fifteen types of gasoline engine (a total of nine six-cylinders) with a capacity of 1.6 to 3.0 liters and power ranging from 77-170 kW, as well as with nine diesels (four six-cylinders) with a capacity of 2.0-3.0 liters and power from 85-150 kW.

BMW 3 fifth generation s produced in 2005-2012 and could be bought with a total of thirty-two gasoline engines (one eight-cylinder and twenty-two six-cylinders) with a capacity of 1.6 to 4.0 liters and an output of 85-309 kW, as well as with twenty diesels (seven six-cylinders) with a capacity of 2.0-3.0 liters and a power of 85-210 kW.

The BMW 3 of the sixth generation has been produced since 2011 and so far can be bought with a total of ten petrol engines (two hybrids, four six-cylinders) with a capacity of 1.6-3.0 liters and an output of 100-250 kW, as well as nine diesels (two six-cylinders) with a capacity of 2.0-3.0 liters and an output of 85-190 kW.

In the petrol BMW 3batteries with a capacity of 56-77 Ah are used, and in diesels then batteries with a capacity of 80-95 ah.

The BMW 3 Series (E90) was assembled in many plants around the world. In addition to its home country of Germany (Leipzig, Munich, Regensburg), also in South Africa (Rosslyn), China (Shenyang), Mexico (Toluca), Egypt (6th of October City), India (Chennai), Thailand (Rayong), Indonesia (Jakarta), Malaysia (Kulim, Kedah) and also in Russia (Kaliningrad).
