Willis Tower
Today’s Willis Tower (until 2009 Sears Tower) is a famous skyscraper that can be found in Chicago. It is 442 meters high and offers a total of 108 floors (including the roof, it is actually 109). The skyscraper was completed in 1974 and its timeu was the tallest building in the world. It surpassed the world’s highest trade center in New York. The world’s tallest building, this skyscraper lasted for 23 long years, until the construction of the Petronas Twin Towers (451.9 meters).
The original name Sears Tower came from the fact that it was built for the largest retail company at the time, Sears, which was based here for years.
At the moment, this skyscraper is the tallest in Chicago, the third highest in the United States, the third highest in all of North America, and also the 23rd highest in the entire world.
