Belo Monte Dam
The Belo Monte Dam is a large waterworks that stretches out on the Xingu River, its northern part in Brazil in the state of Pará. The main purpose of the construction of the dam is to use the watercourse to generate electricity. Brazil has a lot of experience with this way, also thanks to a similar work of Itaipu.
The construction of the dams and the installation of the turbines was completed in 2019, when the 18th turbine was installed. In total, the entire work is designed for a maximum output of up to 11,233 megawatts (MW).
